Surprise At UK PS3 Launch
At a PS3 launch event in the UK, Sony gave out a free 46″ Bravia LCD TV to the each of first 100 people in line waiting to pick up their preorders. Sony’s Ray Maguire announced the special gift to them shortly before midnight, much to their wild delight.
While this may seem like a sort of publicity stunt to garner more sales, the fact is that everyone who received a free TV had already purchased a PS3, it’s not as though it was an offer made long ago to create more preorders. Thus it seems to be simply a gift of pure generosity, if not to improve their reputation among gamers.
