For those of you who don’t know CCTV (closed circuit television) is a surveillance network throughout England. There are approximately 4.2 million CCTV cameras in England constantly monitoring everyone. Now the cameras will be able to talk to anti-socials, litterers, etc.
If you haven’t heard of CCTV before it would sound like something straight out of a British dystopia novel. I personally think that CCTV cameras are good and are not intended for invasion of privacy, but really just to make life safer, cleaner, healthier, etc. If these cameras can direct someone to through away a soda can, I think that is amazing.

According to Inverse Path, an Italian network security company, the unencrypted data sent to automobile navigation systems is prone to interception and manipulation. This flaw may be exploited to create harmful effects such as traffic jams and leading drivers into traps where further crimes may be committed.
Your average thug is not smart enough to manipulate GPS signals, and thus it is unlikely that such hacking will be used for serious crimes. Instead, such abuse will likely be done by groups of college kids in clubs at prestigious schools of technology for the purpose of humourous pranks. Nevertheless, measures should be taken to prevent any of the aforementioned from occurring.

The One Million Dollar Race is a contest to see the first blogger (competing) who can collect 1 million dollars on the internet through their blog.
I think not only will the race be fun and encouraging, but it will also help in creating a network of relationships. I’m entering Plooms into the race

Scientists now say that longer baking times, higher temperatures, and longer fermentation times can increase the antioxidant levels in certain types of dough. This could be particularly good for people who enjoy deep dish pizzas, thus, obtaining more antioxidants, but at the same time, Jacqui Lowdon says he would rather see people eating their portions of fruits and vegetables, than eat more pizza.
I agree with Jacqui about fruits and vegetables, but also, depending on the type of pizza or what it’s made of, it can be significantly more healthy than the neighborhood pizza hut… and if you add antioxidants to that, even better.

Recent British studies have reported that tobacco and alcohol can be worse than some illegal drugs and should be under the same classification. Professor David Nutt (yes really) and his colleagues developed a different ranking system on drug classification that involved effects on society, economy, injuries, emergency room visits, families, etc. Cocaine and heroin showed up on top, alcohol ranked number 5, tobacco 9, marijuana 11 and ecstasy near the bottom.
Although this guy is kind of crazy I do agree with him in not that we should be looser on certain drugs, (sorry Marley fans) but in that tobacco and alcohol should be in the same classifications. The article says how the two are not even included in the Misuse of Drugs Act. With more studies pointing towards marijuana having no link to lung cancer, I think it only fair that tobacco be on the list.

Nope the RAZR, RIZR, SLVR and KRZR weren’t enough. (Was I the only one who thought the ‘Q’ was a pretty cool name?) Well, now Motorola is back with the rumored, ‘LAZR.’ Supposed to feature 512mb internal memory, (no external slot) chrome exterior and a text-to-speech program for e-mail and SMS.
Quite frankly, I never liked the phonetic type spelling of the phones from the first place. It seems as if I just spent a year trying to get out of my hi2u interweb IM talk and as soon as I conquer it, I find myself buying an unlocked RAZR on ebay. Although I’m sure their is success in this naming with how popular their phones (especially the RAZR) have become, but at the same time, I think there was a *sigh* of relief when the Q was introduced.

At a PS3 launch event in the UK, Sony gave out a free 46″ Bravia LCD TV to the each of first 100 people in line waiting to pick up their preorders. Sony’s Ray Maguire announced the special gift to them shortly before midnight, much to their wild delight.
While this may seem like a sort of publicity stunt to garner more sales, the fact is that everyone who received a free TV had already purchased a PS3, it’s not as though it was an offer made long ago to create more preorders. Thus it seems to be simply a gift of pure generosity, if not to improve their reputation among gamers.

IDC reports that by 2011 laptops will outsell desktops as the demand for big machinery will continue to decrease and smaller portables become more efficient. The laptop market is currently growing 4 times as fast as the desktop market and is said to continue that way for the next 4 years.
The main majority of the desktop gaming community played their games online and I think that is one of the main reason desktop powerhouses were such a seller. With internet gaming becoming more efficient with consoles, I think more and more people will start to buy laptops for work and keep the gaming to the consoles.

Mad Catz plans to release the first third party Wii controllers, the “wand remote” and “funchuk” in late September, retailing for $49 and $20 respectively. While no official images of the devices have been released, images have surfaced depicting what appears to be a swollen and oddly misshapen wiimote and nunchuk.
At a higher price than first-party wii controllers and made by a third party, this wand and funchuk pair appears to be an epic failure, though it may provide an alternative for any unfortunate individual desperate for a wiimote at a time when their local store is out of first-party controllers.

The “Apple TV” (formerly called iTV) is now shipping. The Apple TV lets you play video files from your computer onto your TV, and comes with a 40gb HDD. Not only does it have a built in hard drive, but also built in wireless and a sleek Apple remote.
This product was created to get people to buy more into iTunes, or to fix the problems with buying movies on iTunes already. People would buy a movie, then the only thing they could watch it on is a 3 inch screen. I think that this product will make things a lot easier when it comes to getting movies from your computer to your television, but at the same time, there are other ways to do it without spending $300.
