The site is based off the general news blog concept where articles are added and blog readers post comments. Here, there is something added… A ploom helps in knowing the general user thought on an article and also holds a statistical/research value.
So heres what we’ll do: Read, listen, and watch stuff we think is interesting, controversial or ridiculous, then summarize the idea and possibly present a new one. Maybe make it better. We want plooms to consist of thought provoking ideas. New ideas. Along with thoughts and ideas, we’ll try to present to you some tech/sci updates.
Next, we’ll vote the ploom. Heres where you come along, read the article (research more at the “through” links) and vote the ploom.
This is very useful for the casual blog reader who does not plan on posting a comment, but he still wants to see what the majority thinks. Rather than reading everyones comment (which does not matter because he is not an active member in the discussion) he can just view the ploom and understand the general consensus.
